Leading Hand - Scrap Metal

The role:

Being safety-minded, self-motivated and reliable will help you be successful in this role. Leading a small team of operators in this Scrap Metal yard, you will be given all the tools you need to succeed and grow a career in this niche industry.
Reporting directly to the Yard Manager and leading a small team of 3 operators to sort and process scrap metal for preparation to export, you will be provided with full training and support to be successful.

The duties:

• Time management is key to success

• Lead the team to ensure everyone follows company policy on H&S

• Face to face customer service

• Organise and maintain the warehouse and yard

• Efficiently grade and sort scrap in preparation for export

• Be responsible for health and safety in the warehouse and yard

The skills:

• Previous experience with customer service

• Basic computer skills / literacy

• Attention to detail

• Good written and verbal communication skills / numeracy skills

• Previous experience working with heavy machinery (forklift, excavator, WTR)

• WTR licence would be an advantage, but not necessary

• Willing to learn grading of metals - or ideally having some knowledge of ferrous / non-ferrous grades
